Delia struggles to make ends meet in a city that rejoices that the war is over but still grapples with its aftermath. At home, she is scolded by her bedridden father-in-law and abused by her violent husband. When she's not taking care of the household and trying to keep her unruly sons in check, she rushes between odd jobs. Her only pleasure is taking a break for gossip at her best friend's market stand or rejoicing that her daughter has managed to fall in love with a nice middle-class boy. But one day, a mysterious letter arrives.

Paola Cortellesi

Paola Cortellesi  was born on 24 November 1973. She is an Italian actress, film director, screenwriter and producer. She has starred in about 20 movies as well as a number of theatrical, television and radio shows. In 2023, she made her directorial debut with the black-and-white comedy-drama There's Still Tomorrow, which received critical acclaim and became one of the highest-grossing films in Italy. The film has won the David di Donatello award in five out of the official categories including Best Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Actress.
