Opening concert of Varna Summer International Music Festival 2025 21.06. 20.00 Official Opening Varna State Opera - main stage Varna State Opera Symphony Orchestra Conductor Emil Tabakov Soloist: Viktor Teodosiev – French horn P. Vladigerov – Vardar Rhapsody R. Strauss – Horn Concerto No.2 R.Strauss – Suite Der Rosenkavalier (The Knight of the Rose), Op. 59 “Varna Summer”- the oldest International Music Festival in Bulgaria, opens its 2025 edition with a concert dedicated to Richard Strauss. Although innovative, his music masterfully recreates the past – you will hear the suite from his “opera of waltzes” Der Rosenkavalier, set in 18th century Vienna and Strauss’ second horn concerto. This virtuoso lyrically expressive piece will be performed by one of the best young hornists in Europe – the Bulgarian Victor Teodosiev. Emil Tabakov, one of the most important conductors in Bulgaria will guide the Orchestra of the Varna State Opera in this program that includes also the hymn of the festival – Vardar Rhapsody by Pancho Vladigerov!
